What is your role and what does it entail?
I’m the newest member to the incredible Publicity team (National Senior Publicist) working across publicity, talent relations and communications. My role is all about bringing our content and talent to life beyond the screen by developing publicity opportunities, building relationships with media and creators, securing great coverage and finding creative ways to get audiences talking. No two days are ever the same, which is one of the things I love most about it!
What do you love about working in this industry and what do you find most challenging?
I love that the entertainment industry is constantly evolving and that you get to work alongside incredibly talented, creative people. There’s something really rewarding about taking an idea, finding the right opportunity and seeing it come to life.
The biggest challenge? I’ve hit the ground running joining the Big Brother team, and the pace is unreal! Things can change in an instant, plans can go out the window and you’re often juggling a million things at once. But I think that’s also part of the fun as you have to be adaptable, think on your feet and never be too attached to the plan!
What’s been your proudest personal and professional achievement so far?
Professionally, I’ve been lucky enough to work across some incredible projects, from The Voice and Home and Away to major music tours, live events and the ARIA Awards. I’m particularly proud of the relationships I’ve built throughout the industry and the opportunities I’ve had to work with and champion some incredibly talented people.
Personally, without question, becoming a mum to my two little boys. They’re my greatest achievement (and probably my biggest daily reality reminder that I am not in fact Superwoman!).
Who is the Sophie Morrison outside of Paramount? What would we find you doing on weekends?
Outside of work, I’m mum to two energetic little boys, wife to Mack and dog mum to Misty, so there’s never a dull moment! Weekends are generally spent chasing the boys around from Jui Jitsu to swimming, finding (inhaling) a (lot of) good coffee, heading to the park or beach, catching up with friends and family, or planning our next little adventure. I’m also partial to a Yoga or Pilates class whenever the opportunity arises (which is usually once in a blue moon).
What are your Top 3 favourite Instagram accounts?
My Instagram algorithm is probably a pretty accurate reflection of my personality (and current stage of life!): parenting hacks and mum-life humour, all things music and pop culture, and a healthy dose of good news to balance out the doomscrolling!!
