Premiering Tuesday, 15 September at 7.30pm on 10, Sydney Harbour Cops takes viewers beyond the postcard views and onto the water with the NSW Police Force Marine Area Command, offering unprecedented access to the officers charged with keeping Sydney Harbour and the NSW coastline safe.
The new character-led observational documentary series follows the Water Police as they tackle everything from drug smuggling and dramatic rescues to complex investigations, bizarre discoveries, and the everyday mayhem that comes with policing one of Australia’s busiest waterways.
And when the call comes in, anything can happen.
Across the series, officers pursue drug traffickers exploiting the NSW coastline, manage the thousands of boats that descend on Sydney Harbour for New Year’s Eve, use sophisticated sonar technology to search for sunken vehicles, respond to lost weapons, investigate the discovery of a World War II grenade, and even join forces with Taronga Zoo to rescue and release sea turtles.
From the potentially life-or-death emergencies to the strange, surprising and occasionally hilarious situations that unfold on the water, Sydney Harbour Cops reveals a side of Sydney Harbour few Australians have ever seen.
The view might be spectacular. The job is anything but predictable.
