Kim Tan – Senior Finance Director, Streaming

This is incredibly impressive, Kim! Where did your love of running start?

I loved travelling and met my now friend travelling in South America.

Was Tokyo your first marathon? Tell us everything – the highs, the lows, the lessons.

Tokyo was my third marathon. The day itself couldn’t have gone any better – it was sunny and Tokyo is a vibe! Training solo was hard, but my run club crew supported me throughout the 12-week block on shorter runs which made a world of difference.

Do you have your own playlist going or are you listening to podcasts?

I don’t run with music or podcasts. There’s plenty of head noise and thoughts that keep me busy whilst running. I like soaking up the excitement of race day without music distracting me!

How do you keep yourself moving when the fatigue hits and you feel like you can’t keep going?

You rely on the training you’ve done! Tick off each km, one kilometre at a time. The crowd is there to also keep you moving forward!

Are you approaching the Sydney marathon differently to Tokyo?

Running more hills!

What’s your tips for people who want to get into running and become the next Kim Tan?

Haha! Just start. And if you can’t motivate yourself to do it solo, find a run club who will get you going on the good days and the bad! You will never regret moving your body and there’s no better feeling than a runners high!
