Still flying high from his VIP experience, here’s Mitch to tell us all about it!
I was reading my favourite weekly publication, The Water Cooler, when I saw entries were closing soon for tickets to WorldPride. I’ve never been before and had always been curious, so I started filming my entry video and before I knew it was off to Sydney!
I was beyond stoked when I found out I got to go, the smile on my face became even more permanent when I arrived. Sydney was literally covered in rainbows. Every ad, every store, every couple was queer and the few straight people I saw were wearing ally shirts. I didn’t realise how little I saw examples of queer love in my day to day life until I got here and it was everywhere. I can go years in Perth without seeing two men holding hands so it was honestly life changing and beautiful to see myself represented everywhere.
The Bondi Beach party was an absolute blast. I saw our very own Narelda Jacobs on stage with Nicole Scherzinger, killing it as always. The Rainbow republic was incredible. My husband is obsessed with MUNA and was beaming. Even if the rest of this trip had been average, it would have been worth it just to see him glow with joy. G Flip was my surprise standout but that being said, all the acts were incredible.
I’m so, so grateful for this beautiful weekend and had the best time. Thanks so much and I will be keeping my eye on The Water Cooler for any more amazing opportunities!
