F1 expert, Tom Clarkson from inside the F1 paddock, plus Natalie Hunter and Archie Thompson for all the glamour and excitement from around the circuit!

The Water Cooler spoke with Scott MacKinnon ahead of the big event.

Who’s your top tip to win the 2022 Formula 1® Heineken Australian Grand Prix?

I don’t think you can go past Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.

The Man from Monaco has been on fire to start the season and if it wasn’t for a late yellow flag in Saudi Arabia he could have made it back to back wins to start 2022.

He has history with Max Verstappen dating back to their carting days and I expect to see some fireworks between the two rivals as they duke it out for top spot down under.

Talk to us about Aussie fave, Riccardo. How do you think he will go in Melbourne?

Dan is one of the most talented drivers on the grid, he just needs the right car underneath him. McLaren showed great form in the first preseason test in Barcelona but the desert heat in Dubai and Saudi Arabia didn’t help their cause.

Hopefully the cool Melbourne air will get the McLaren further up the grid so Dan can fight for a podium finish. Let’s not forget he took victory in Monza last year when many doubters were writing him off.

He seems to lift under pressure.

New circuit, new cars – what does this mean? A better, more exciting race?

Get ready for one hell of a show at Albert Park.

In theory the new regulations make following the car in front much easier and in practice the results have been spectacular. We have seen epic duels in the first two rounds with the drivers fighting back and forth for grid position.

Add in a new faster, flowing track in Melbourne with wider corners and you are sure to see more overtakes, more action and no doubt the odd prang as the drivers get their elbows out. It’s the way racing should be!

If you were an F1 driver – what would be your dream team?

The prancing horse. Ferrari is the most successful team of all time and although the last decade has been lean they seem back in 2022.

The added bonus – they give you a Ferrari as your daily drive.

Red is faster too right?

How do you think you would go driving 300km p/hr?

I’ve been lucky enough to hit that speed during a track day but that was in a straight line with no other cars around.

Corners and rivals inches away from you, I think I’ll stick to talking about it.

Tune in for all the action live and free from Friday 8 April 12.00pm AEDT on 10 Bold and continuing all weekend on 10.
