Dust off your passports and get your bags packed, The Amazing Race Australia is back for another big adventure, and this year they’re are racing around the world!
As international borders open up across the globe, our teams set off for the race of a lifetime across Turkey, Greece, Belize, Morocco, Mexico and Colombia. Just to name a few.
Host and friend of The Water Cooler, Beau Ryan stopped by our offices to tell us all about it!
This season you have hit some pretty spectacular locations. What was the highlight for you?
Morocco was incredible. It’s so far away but worth the trip. The culture and history is out of this world and the food is next level. I’m pretty sure they invented the spice.
Are you ever able to sneak off and take in the sights while the contestants are doing their challenges?
Not really. I’m always a day ahead of the race filming content for the day and it’s usually hectic.
Sometimes it’s not until we are back on home soil and I’m watching the show that I actually take it all in. But there are moments where we just look at each other in amazement when we arrive at some of the Pit Stops. Even though my wife thinks it’s just one big holiday when I leave.
What was it like travelling to so many destinations in the current post-pandemic climate?
It became tricky in Europe. But we had so many protocols and safety resources at our disposal, and we managed to get the show finished. Which is unbelievable.
To be fair I think the rest of the world is just getting on with life.
You’re a seasoned traveller now. What are your Top 3 tips for getting through a flight and battling jetlag?
Hydralytes help big time, a window seat and in regards to jet lag, a swim if you get time when you land.
What is the worst thing/habit you’ve seen people do on a flight?
Steal the armrest. If you don’t have a window seat you got to get that armrest. If you don’t, you are a sardine for 16 hours.
Who is the team to watch this season?
Angel and Frankie.
They might not be the most popular amongst the teams, but they are determined as hell and have enormous amounts of grit.
