Five-time TV WEEK Logie Award-winning, Gogglebox Australia returned to our screens last week with brand new household – Kevin, Bob, Jared, and Mia.
The Water Cooler caught up with our newest couch critics to find out all about them!
Welcome to the Gogglebox family! How did you react when you found out you’d been cast on the show?
We were overwhelmed with excitement to find out we’d be on national TV.
How did the four of you find each other?
Jared, Kevin and Mia all met at university in 2012. And then in 2017, Kevin and Bob started dating and we all became good friends.
What do you think your personalities and commentary will bring to the show?
We’re really excited to show Australia how funny Blackfulla’s are and are keen to use our humour as a catalyst to encourage thought provoking conversations into loungerooms across the country.
What are your best and worst shows to watch?
Best shows – RuPaul, Stuck, Botched, Pose, Australian Survivor, Reservation Dogs, All My Friends Are Racist. Worst shows – The Bolt Report, Sunrise.
Which Gogglebox household have you loved to watch over the years?
Lee and Keith.
How does it feel to be representing the Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and South Sea Islander population?
We’re not here to speak on behalf of Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and South Sea Islander peoples and we don’t want to be portrayed in that way, however it’s exciting for us to be able to showcase the diversity of our views and opinions. We as Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and South Sea Islander peoples are often cast as one dimensional and as all having the same views, but this is a great opportunity for us to challenge that narrative.
