You don’t have to look too far to find a legend on the 10 Play team. Tristan Burke is a prime example. Running enthusiast and Digital Content Team Manager, Tristan oversees the entire Digital Content Team and has been with 10 Play since day one!
We tried to sit down with Tristan over a Heaps Normal non-alcoholic beer and a couple of protein balls to celebrate all things 10 Play but he insisted on doing this interview over a run. So, we threw a litre of Heaps Normal into a hydration vest and set out on a cheeky 10km for 10 Play.
What is your role and what does it entail?
I manage the brilliant digital content team who work tirelessly to get the network’s shows and live News and Sport onto 10 Play for people to enjoy. They also produce some of the amazing extra content that goes with them.
Another part of my role is to oversee editorial across the website and in digital comms.
You’ve been here since the beginning of 10 Play. What do you remember about the launch?
It truly was an epic undertaking, housing every show under one digital umbrella instead of being spread across individual sites (MasterChef.com.au, anyone?).
I remember a small group working long hours, showing the incredible work ethic and comradery that I always associate with this team.
The launch was a very proud moment for all involved, and I feel fortunate to have been part of it. It was hard work, but it was fun work.
What’s been your favourite/most proud moment working on 10 Play?
There are many moments I take particular pride in – the launch of 10 Play itself being one, of course.
The move over to WordPress from a Content Management System That Shall Not Be Named which was an equally massive effort.
The rollout of the FAST Channels which has been a special thing to see (massive shoutout to all the dedicated teams involved).
Yet, my absolute favourite thing about working on 10 Play has always been the people I get to work on it with.
We recently launched Pluto TV FAST Channels on 10 Play, how do you think that will impact the service?
The launch of the FAST Channels has only enhanced 10 Play as an outstanding destination for content. Whatever you’re in the mood for, there really is something for everyone. And if bingeing is your thing, it’s never been easier to get lost down the rabbit hole (the 90210 Channel may actually be inescapable).
Who is the Tristan Burke outside of 10 Play? What do you love to do on weekends?
I’m the father of two, who keep me very busy, and a running fanatic. I just braved the blast furnace of Sydney to complete my eleventh marathon, and if I’m not actually running, there’s a good chance I’m talking about it. Stop by my desk and ask me a question about running shoes anytime. Just bring water and snacks – you might be here a while.
