Have You Met Rochelle?

February 25, 2022

This week, we chat with Rochelle Devries, Senior Designer – Brand Partnerships, about helping lead the roll out of our new Paramount brand, and how she makes flexible working work for her.

Roch, you’ve been at 10 for seven years now and your job is pretty interesting. Tell us a little about it, and the most interesting campaign you’ve worked on.

I am senior designer in the promos team but I work on all the brand integration assets for our Effect team.

So, I get to work on movie IDs, and integrating our sponsors into assets across our shows. It’s like I work in two departments – Promos and Sales/Commercial Integration.

Working across two departments gives me a really good understanding of branding and the business as a whole.

One of the most interesting jobs I have worked on is our current partnership we have with Paramount Pictures, where I get to design and create IDs for all the current movies across the year.

You’re one of the magical fairies creating templates, email signatures and more for our current rebrand from ViacomCBS to Paramount. How big has this job actually been?

I am so excited to be able to work on the rebrand – I’m currently in the middle of creating all the assets.

There are so many uses of our brand, used by so many departments that we’ve had to send out for help to cover it all!

Our logos are used on letters, training documents, websites, marketing materials, presentations, and more.

I’m sure there will be stray logo here and there, so please keep your eyes peeled for any and report back to me, or the Corporate Comms team.

You’ve been an early adopter of our ‘All-Roles Flex’ policy, working part time since you started. How has this flexible working arrangement benefited you and your family?

10 has been so amazing with my flex role.

I started seven years ago at three days per week, working 7am to 3pm so I could get home in time to deal with young kids.

As my children got older, I moved to four days per week – one day working from home and that was before COVID. Just before COVID hit, I was trialing two days in the office and two days at home.

To be honest, in my 16 years of being a working mum, 10 has been the most flexible place I have ever worked.

My role at 10 is the first (and only) job I have ever had that has been understanding of being a working mum, which has really allowed me to grow in my career as a designer. I couldn’t be more grateful!!!

What are basic design tips that you live by?

Getting a proper brief is SO important.

I always do my research before I start a design. I look at what the design is trying to communicate and what branding applies to the project.

Most importantly is has to look pretty!

What’s something you miss about being in the office and how are you feeling about returning?

I really miss seeing people face-to-face, going out for dumplings with the design team, and getting out of my house!

My husband and I have both been working from home for two years… together… in our house… with no break!

So, it will be great to come back in the office to see different people.
