July 12, 2022

The time is upon us! The MasterChef Australia: Fans & Favourites finale airs tonight and what a journey it has been.

But tonight, it’s down to Billie and Sarah, to battle it out for the win! We spoke to judge, Melissa Leong ahead of tonight’s finale but spoiler alert – she alerted us to no spoilers!

Fans & Favourites has been an incredible season of MasterChef Australia. What’s been a real stand out moment for you?

What’s been a real stand out moment is the connection between the Fans and Favourites this season.

There’s been a wonderful of energy, sharing of wisdom, confidence building and exuberance.

MasterChef Australia continues to be a huge hit with the viewers. What do you think makes the show so successful?

What makes MasterChef so successful is that it’s always about the food.

There will always be food in our lives that allows us to connect to our culture, stories and family.

With all of your experience, is there a dish that you just can’t master?

I’m definitely not going attempt a Croquembouche any time soon.

Your new book, A Taste Adventure is coming out in September. It’s written for kids, what was your motivation behind this?

My motivation was to spark curiosity in kids when it comes to their food world, food experience and life.

Can we just say… you are our style icon. Where do you set your style inspo from?

My style inspo comes from incredible people like David Bowie and Tilda Swinton, and looks straight from runway.

There are so many amazing ways to express yourself.

I love seeing when people look and feel like themselves. It’s a wonder full form of self-expression.

Now that MasterChef filming has wrapped and you have some time off, what do you look forward to the most?

What time off ha?! But in all seriousness, I’m excited to take on more travel assignments, and see more of the world outside of Australia and the MasterChef kitchen.

We know you can’t give out any spoilers but… who wins tonight?

HA.

A powerhouse of a woman who truly deserves it.
