Καλό Πάσχα (Happy Easter)! Fresh off Greek Easter celebrations, we chat with Assistant Promo Producer, Kat Anagnostopoulos.

Kat shares with us what makes Greek Easter special for her and her family, she explains the rules of τσούγκρισμα (the red-dyed egg game)and tells us what Greeks do best!

Find out more about Kat, Greek Easter, and pick up a few words to add to your Greek vocabulary.

What do you do in your role? And what is your favourite part of the job?

I’m an Assistant Promo Producer in the fabulous Promos department.

Our team produces the promotional materials for shows across 10, 10 Bold, 10 Peach and 10 Shake.

It is incredibly rewarding to be a part of Paramount as a whole, and to play a small part in how it functions. I especially enjoy seeing how our team continues to aim higher; not only in terms of ratings but in terms of the quality and breadth of content that we put out.

If you could switch roles with anyone at Paramount, who would it be?

Sandra Sully! She is an absolute icon – do I need to say more?

Last weekend, you celebrated Greek Easter after a week of fasting. Tell us about Greek Easter and what it means to you and your family.

Greek Easter is a time of both reflection and celebration.

It’s also a way for us to reconnect with our community through our local church.

For my family, it’s time for us to come together and carry out the traditions that we strongly value.

What are the best parts of Greek Easter?

Spending that extra time with extended family on Easter Sunday is my highlight!

With everyone so busy these days, it’s lovely to carry out the ritual of enjoying a big feast together.

After abstaining from animal products, it is quite a celebratory feeling to enjoy traditional Greek food again!

I also love testing my luck with the traditional red-dyed egg game or τσούγκρισμα (tsoo-grees-ma). The game consists of two people tapping either side of their eggs against each other’s. The “winner” is the one whose egg doesn’t crack – they will then go on to test their luck against the rest of the family. The last person standing with an un-cracked egg is said to have a lucky year ahead of them!

Greeks are the best at everything according to Anastasia and Faye from Gogglebox. In your opinion, what do Greeks do best?

I would say Greeks’ strengths lie in over-eating and never getting off the dance floor…. We sure love our food and music!

In our culture, the enjoyment of immersing yourself in a moment is incredibly valued, it’s the way we find our joy and passion, or our κέφι (ke-fi; life).
