Meet Danny Adamopoulos! Danny has recently joined Paramount as Chief of Staff for 10 News First, Adelaide.
We put Danny in the Water Cooler hot seat this week to officially welcome him to the Paramount family.
Danny, welcome to Team Paramount! Tell us about your career journey so far and what led you to Paramount?
I started working at Channel 9 29 years ago as a production assistant on a local program called Humphrey B Bear. This was my intro into the world of media. After a year at Channel 9 I made the move to Channel 7 to work on a new current affair program called Today Tonight as a sound recordist. I spent five years on this program before making the transition to the newsroom as a cameraman where I had the good fortune to work both locally and on international stories. After working as a cameraman for 23 years I believe I had achieved everything I could as a news cameraman and wanted a new challenge. When the opportunity came around to join Paramount I couldn’t resist the chance to try something new in the industry that I love.
What makes you passionate about News and journalism?
I would class myself a news junkie and believe no matter who is it everybody has a story to tell. I have always enjoyed the thrill of the chase for the story and as a competitive person by nature I strive to be first to break the story before anyone else.
As Chief of Staff, you would have to be ‘on’ all the time being ready for any breaking news. How do you allow yourself to switch off?
I admit I do struggle to turn off at times as news is 24 hours a day 7 days a week. With so many other platforms today, it is becoming increasingly harder to switch off as news is always at our fingertips. As someone who is passionate about the news I always need to be in the know.
Which News outlets or apps do you follow the most? (Aside from Paramount of course)
The news outlets I follow the most would be our direct competition 7, 9 and ABC as well as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn.
Who is the Danny Adamopoulos outside of Paramount? What do you love to do?
I am a married father of three. I have a 23-year-old son, a 20-year-old son and a 14-year-old daughter. I love to spend time on the Murray River with my family and friends. I used to spend every summer jet skiing with my daughter on the back. But, now at the age of 14 I spend most of the time being dinky by my daughter as she hogs the driver seat. Some may say I am a father of five as I have two golden retrievers that require a lot of attention. I also own a couple of small businesses that keep me very busy. My wife and I enjoy travelling both within Australia and overseas.
Finally, which Paramount program are you loving at the moment and why?
My favourite Paramount program is Tulsa King. I cannot wait for the next season to begin!
