We’ve seen strong results at Paramount ANZ over the recent months. From successful channel launches to new comedies, Paramount+ turning two, and winning a swag of Logies, our business is celebrating some tremendous achievements, successful results as well as exciting opportunities to come.
But first the successes we’ve seen. On 1 August we rebranded 10 Shake to Nickelodeon that has delivered outstanding lifts. Nickelodeon is convincingly the #1 commercial multi-channel for kids, up 43% year-on-year in 12 years and under. It’s the start of strong performance that we know we will continue to see for this channel that is loaded with fun and nostalgic content for the young and young at heart.
We also saw solid series results for both MasterChef Australia and Hunted that continued to capture key demos and entertain audiences. MasterChef Australia: The Winner Announced clocked up 1.14 million national viewers and was 114% bigger than its competition plus it was the #1 show in the key demos. Across the season, Hunted reached 6.55 million viewers and was #1 in its timeslot in 25 to 54s and 16 to 39s. It also swooped an average of 784,000 total national audience and saw strong lifts of 37% on overnight audiences.
Then we have the outstanding return of Thank God You’re Here, the biggest comedy launch on TV since 2019, that had a total national audience of 1.3 million viewers in stitches with the hilarious improv from Australia’s finest and funniest comedians. Followed closely by the launch of social media sensations turned TV legends, with The Inspired Unemployed (Impractical) Jokers seeing a whopping 48% lift on overnights to a total national audience of 657,000 for the first episode, a truly amazing result for a first run show. And everyone’s favourite couch critics have returned with Gogglebox Australia winning its timeslot and entertainment in under 50s, 25 to 54s and 16 to 39s.
Gogglebox Australia was also one of five of our shows to win TV Week Logie Awards for Network 10. We were incredibly proud of our 21 nominations that resulted in the greatest number of Logies than any other commercial network spanning popular categories and industry excellence. The Cheap Seats won Most Outstanding Entertainment Program, MasterChef Australia won the award for Most Popular Reality Program, Australian Survivor: Heroes V Villains took home the Logie for Most Outstanding Reality Program, Have You Been Paying Attention? won the Most Popular Comedy Program for the fourth time and Gogglebox Australia took out Most Popular Entertainment Program.
In another milestone for our business, Paramount+ streamed its way into its second birthday. Audiences are loving the mountain of entertainment available on our premier streaming service that has seen it become the fastest growing streaming service in Australia in its first 18 months.
Next week, on Thursday August 31 we’re thrilled to be launching Pluto TV on 10 Play in what is unarguably the most exciting suite of channels the market has seen for some time. Iconic titles and global smash hit series, all available for free for nostalgic and new fans. But for our valued clients and partners, it’s a fast lane to engaged audiences. And at Paramount, we’re pioneers in FAST with deep knowledge and insight, allowing us to elevate the opportunity for our clients as we reinvent traditional TV for the digital age.
On Tuesday 29 August, we’re also back in business with Shark Tank diving into the deep end with Aussie entrepreneurs vying for investment from our brand-new Sharks. Neighbours will settle in on September 18 with double the drama and double the fun as our favourite Ramsay Street residents move into two new homes on Network 10. Australia’s favourite guessing game The Masked Singer Australia is coming soon with epic and wacky masks to whet your appetite, it is guaranteed to be season of stars and jaw-dropping surprises. And The Bachelors has wrapped in Melbourne in what is the most romantic season yet with launch dates to be announced soon.
Just like the Tillies, we’re not done with more thrilling and inspirational Matildas football action to come with the Olympic qualifiers starting October 26 on Network 10 and Paramount+. The Liberty A-Leagues also kicks off on October 14 that every member of the Matildas World Cup squad has either played in, or is currently playing in. An incredible, world-class league we can all be proud of and enjoy on home turf around Australia and on Network 10 and Paramount+.
There is a great deal of momentum at Paramount ANZ, as we continue to grow our business and entertain Australian audiences, with something for every age and stage leveraging our diverse content ecosystem. There are also a host of opportunities across our Paramount playground to engage with our audiences and create impact for our valued clients, agencies and partners.
